The European continent is covered by water on three sides both on the northern front and the southern front. It is covered by water on almost all the sides but is still connected to a larger piece of land. Two of the major peninsulas in Europe are the Iberian Peninsula and the Italian Peninsula which are both on the southern side of the European continent.
