    It might be remembered that it was The Kalapuya tribe which ceded lands to the US government in 1855 which later would make Corvallis state agricultural college, a Land Grant Institution. It might be added that the superintendent of Indian Affairs in Oregano, Anson Dart was in charged of the negotiations with the Kalapuya in 1851.
