How did old world tensions contribute to the success of american diplomats in securing the treaty of paris and its generous provisions?

    Britain and France still hated each other and Britain did not, under any circumstances, want America to be "guided" by France. Therefore, they made their treaty seem as enticing as they could. So it greatly contributed in the success of the american diplomats in their goals.
