    Yes his discovery was unintended cause back then they thought that there was no other continent than there's.

    Yes, he wanted to find Asia, but the maps back then where not accurate, nor was there understanding of the globe. Marco Polo's discoveries encouraged the Euroupeans to go to Asia because of the riches there. Colombus, found a new continent, this continent was later named America, in honer of the Amerigo Vespucci

    (Vespucci figured out that the map was incorrect)
