After the ottoman Turks conquered Constantinople, muscovites began developing an ideology of themselves. This is because, after the conquer, Muscovy became the only major independent Orthodox state in Europe.

Muscovy was trying to construct its own ideology as the Third Rome which was considered the last true Christian nation.
