Because of the growing importance of the internet, for all actions of human life, including learning and information, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared in 2011, that access to the internet is now a human right. The data reported in 2011 show that North America (mainly the United States); the western countries of the European Union; as well as Australia, were the regions where the population had greater and more free access to the internet. This is in contrast to China, which has the greatest resources to block pages and internet sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, among many others, using political censorship.
