How did the arrival of east european immigrants change american culture?

    In the early 20th century, East Europeans sought for a better life in America - - but many were rejected and discriminated against, with the U. S. government favoring Europeans from Ireland, England, etc. The fear of communism at the time led to discrimination and hatred toward East Europeans (the "Red Scare").
