Most african americans who moved to the north from the south found apex

Many of the African Americans who migrated northward following the civil war found that they had more opportunities for work and found much better paying jobs. The flip side of the coin, though, was that many of them were quite surprised to find that racism still ran so deep in the north and they were treated poorly by whites.
