Which religious groups have been persecuted throughout american history and why?

Most commonly persecuted groups were the Mormons. They were a branch of Christianity that was persecuted from state to state because people would not allow them to practice Mormonism because they considered it to be blasphemous and nobody liked them, so they moved a lot of states before settling down in Utah.
