    Hello!

The period in earth history when there was a single ocean and a single continent occurred about 300 000 000 years ago.

This continent is called Pangaea, and the ocean is called Panthalassa. They existed in the Mesozoic Period. The scientist responsible for the theory of continental drift and the first to talk about Pangaea was Alfred Wegener.

The continent was formed by the movement of tectonic plates. Due to the massive size of the continent, the internal regions probably were dry due to the lack of precipitations. This continent started to break up about 175 000 000 years ago, to form the continents as we know them today.

    Have a nice day!
