Explain the role of religion in colonial resistance to the new Imperial policies of 1774

Religious people in the colonies were afraid that they would get only a single state allowed religion from the British Crown like France had done to Canada, so they supported the rebellion to avoid losing their religious freedom from which they already escaped at least once.
