Sounds like you've been reading the New Testament.

There are two ways to read the gospels. The first way is to accept what is written as it is written. It has survived for 2000 + years because people read it this way. Those were miracles. They have no rational explanation. Or I don't think they have.

The second way is to let the mind try and understand such things. It can't. The mind deals with what it can see, feel, touch, hear or smell. It can do wonderful things, but it is very hard for it to go beyond those five things.

My major in university was physics. If ever there was a mind discipline it is physics. And yet, most physicists I know are intensely religious people. It does not make sense why, but there it is.
