The baby boom caused a significant rise in spending between 1945 and 1960, as new parents needed to purchase products to support their babies/children. This developed a consumerist society, and it is still like that today. Also. as the baby boomers became adults, the hippie culture began to arise in the 1960's, which was critical in the time.
