How did events in Europe cause problems for the young United States in the 1790s

    There were a few events that affected the US in the 1790s. One event was the french revolution. It affected the us because once the british entered the revolution, the Americans would have had to pick sides in the war if they entered it. If they sided with France, they lost their biggest trading partner in britain and if they sided with Britain they would lost being allies with France. An other event was the xyz affair. It affected the us because we would have had to bride France just to talk to them to have their ships stop attacking US ships and denying to give france 10 million dollars showed that the Americans were not going to be bullied around by other countries.
