The pilgrims first few months they had to figure out how to set up a colony. They luckily landed in an area that was devastated by disease and were able to take over some of the fertile lands that the Native American tribes used but they still needed to set up housing, make sure the food was stable and figure out society. This is a problem since they were primarily upper-class aristocracy with little experience in the building of houses, basic farming, and even collecting food or hunting except for sport. They would have to figure just those base concepts quickly and efficiently if they plan on surviving.
