    The Roman empire took place in Ancient Rome when the Romans controlled much of Europe and other parts of the world. Romans at this time mainly worshipped Roman gods. The Holy Roman Empire is the Empire of the Roman Catholic Church and forced Roman Catholicism on its citizens.
