Why do you think reformers of the early twentieth century worked so hard to solve social issues like poverty and poor sanitation?

    Well, it is in the name, "reformers". They were trying so hard to fix it because they were trying to improve the environment; to decrease the pain, hunger, poverty, and suffering, and to make their world a better place
