    The Olmec were the people who lived from the time period of 1200 BC to 400 BC and the two main cities of this area were San Lorenzo and La Venta.

    The Olmec were able to develop and flourish because the area where they lived was very fertile thus making them easy to earn a livelihood and to grow food for their own consumption. The reason why this empire had a down fall is still not known to anyone in this world.
