Modernism is a literary movement that arose in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, in the U. S. and Europe. The base of the modernism were cultural trends and changes caused in Western society in order to break the traditional model of writing. The modernist authors used some common themes as defiance of some political models and anarchy.

Therefore, modernists tried to reflect on the changes that society was going through and to describe the consequences of World War I.
