    Renaissance happened after the middle ages. It was a period of rebirth in politics, economics, art and culture. It started in 14th century and ended in 17th century. Renaissance means rebirth. The middle ages started after the fall of Roman empire and all the advance in art, government and science were lost during this period.

    Middle ages were also called dark ages. While Renaissance was the time when European came out of the dark ages with new achievements in music, literature, art and science. Humanism was an important cultural movement which was a part of Renaissance. Renaissance began in Italy and later the renaissance ideas spread to Europe.

    Renaissance also affected arts and the subject of all the European art changed. Renaissance artists continued to make religious painting but they also started to produce paintings on Roman and Greek Mythology along with historical subjects and religious portraits. Subjects of everyday life also came into focus. Perspective was on of the new techniques employed by the artists to improve the qualities and realism of Art.
