John Locke is widely regarded as the father of liberalism and in presenting his social contract theory suggested that all individuals are equal and are given three important rights by the God that cannot be taken away. They are Life, Liberty and Property.

This idea of freedom was disregarded by the Colonial Britain but influenced the colonies in America to be free.

Locke argued that people have rights: to liberty, life, and property. These rights are the independent foundation of the laws in any society. And Britain wasn't agreeing to these standards, while Americans wanted to see those natural rights be established.
