Explanation:

During the times of World War II, mostly the men were deployed to join the military or the defense army. This deployment created vast vacancy in the employment arena, duly filled and undertaken by the women of those times.

They were given equal responsibility and work as the men with the same nature of work and working hours, but at a lesser pay. This created a feel of lesser equality and thus the equal pay struggle started with suffrage of women.
