The main reason the American Revolution was successful because of the founding fathers and the structure they created with separation of power. The French Revolution was a failure because it didn't result in a robust republic is unfair because it dismisses it's other accomplishment. Napoleon Bonaparte became first consul of France in 1799, and emperor in 1804. In 1800, he declared the revolution to be over.
