During the Black Death more than 30-60% population of Europe was dead because of the plague that spread through the fleas living on the black rats which spread to the ships throughout the Mediterranean Sea and Europe.

It was a time of great stress. Plague took away many lives and this was the time when European Government took action against the rats and they then built a new clean society for the wellbeing of the citizens.
