Canal provides the irrigation support to the non rainfed days and areas. Waterways is the cheaper transport than road and rail transport.

    Explanation:

Canals constructed through command area management from watershed regions to arid and semi-arid areas. For example, Indira Gandhi canal constructed from the Indus river to the Rajasthan areas.

Canal construction increases the pisciculture in canals and canal water distribution increases the ground water resource. Water transport costs lesser than the other transports so they prefer to move goods in water transport. Road transport is of high cost and is prone to higher level of accidents.
