    Throughout history people were on keen to migrate to different areas in search of better life.

    Of course, reasons for migration were different but had same goal. In that sense low wages, or better to say non-economical independence is something that would influence migration. Very often this happened throughout the history. During the period of industrialization people were more keen to move into cities, where they hoped to gain better salaries and find a better place for their family to live.
