    The influx of Irish immigants to the United States was caused because of a terrible famine in Ireland.

    Between years 1845 and 1855 America received around 1.5 million people, including adults and children who left Ireland due to starvation and disease.

    Potato crops were devastated, leaving millions without food. It was called The Potato Famine and it killed more than one million people in five years.
