    Richard Nixon was the 37th president of US and served from 1969 till 1974. He was the only president in US history to resign. He also served as the 36th president from 1953 till 1961. He created National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. It was one of the first law fro establishing legislative framework to protect environment and achieved following goals: It outlined a formal declaration for creating national environmental policies and goals. All the federal agencies were to prepare and submit environmental statement for the federally funded programs. and also created presidential council on the environment within the executive office. He signed National Environmental policy Act of 1969 on 1st Jan, 1970.
