    Not only ethnic Japanese were subject to forced expulsion, but even those of American citizens who had only great-grandmother or great-grandfather of Japanese nationality among their ancestors - that is, who had only 1/16 of the "enemy" blood.

    The families were given two days to prepare for internment. During this time, they had to settle all material matters and sell their property, including cars. It was impossible to do this in such a short time, and they just left their homes and cars.
