The main cause of the armed conflict between Great Britain and China was related to the trade of Opium. China tried several times to stop illegal commercialization of the drug by foreign traders, among which the British played a key role.

Confrontations rose as both nations took retaliation against each other. China destroyed a large opium cargo stored in a warehouse, causing a growth of antagonism. These wars are known as 'Opium Wars'.

The cause of the armed conflict between Great Britain and China was that Great Britain refused to stop selling opium in China.

It was called the First Opium War, also called the Anglo-Chinese War or the Opium War. This conflict between China (the Qing dynasty) and Great Britain focused around the port of Canton and was a series of military arrangements fought between these two countries. Their main conflicts were that they had different perspectives on trade, diplomatic relations and the administration of justice in China.
