    It was the banking crisis with the collapse of the investment bank Lehman Brothers i think in 2008 ... not sure, but it is D!

    Indeed the answer is D. Banks were giving out loans with ease and high risk conditions. Too greedy and forgot to pay attention to the volatile market ... so the real issue was greed (more money no matter how immoral) and pride thinking they know it all and can control the situation! Basic prudence and eyes opened would of avoided the 2008 crash. Hope they learned something
