How did americans across the country experience the period of reconstruction differently

The reconstruction was a period of American history that lasted from 1865 to 1877. Three visions of the memory of the Civil War appeared during Reconstruction:

The vision of reconciliation, which was rooted in dealing with death and the devastation the war had brought. The vision of white supremacy, which included terror and violence. The vision of emancipation, which sought full freedom, citizenship and constitutional equality for African-Americans.

Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson adopted moderate positions to return the South to the Union as quickly as possible, while the Radical Republicans in Congress sought stronger measures to improve the rights of African-Americans, including the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
