Hadley used some of Darwin's evolutionist theory and adapted into economic thought, i. e. natural selection would in time make small companies dissappear. In other words, he thought that concentration of capital into monopoly was like Darwin's "survival of the fittest". In this sense Hadley was all for Monopolies, admitting that some danger of abusing their power exists; however he also thought that monopolies would not abuse their power, simply because of fear of socialist revolt.
