Both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams pursued the ideals of equality for all residents in America. Jefferson himself passed the act prohibiting slaves to enter the US in 1807.

The Waltham-Lowell system focused on integrating all of the stages of production within one single roof. Besides the operating efficiencies provided by the system, one important feature was that it workstations were tailored in order for young adult women to able to work in them. At the time, this was highly convenient for women because wages in manufacturing were considerably higher in comparison to domestic jobs. This would have been seen with satisfaction and happiness by both Jefferson as Adams, as they probably would have seen it as a subsequent stage in the process of promoting equality among every citizen of the United States.
