    One way in which Confucianism and neo Confucianism differ is that Neo-Confucianism could be considered as a more rationalist and secular form of Confucianism since the former rejects superstitious and mystical elements of Taoism and Buddhism that had influenced Confucianism during and after the Han Dynasty.
