The circumstance that led to Brown v. Board of Education case was An 8-year-old girl had to walk through a dangerous area to attend an African American school each day. Even though there was a school near Linda's home, it was only for white students. Oliver Brown issued a lawsuit against the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas in 1951, after Linda was denied access to this white elementary school. Brown claimed that segregated schools were not equal and that segregation violated the "Equal Protection Clause" of the Fourteenth Amendment, which holds that no state can deny each person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law.

The correct answer is C. An 8-year-old girl had to walk through a dangerous area to attend an African American school each day.

This kid was Linda Carol Brown, who had to walk six blocks to take the bus to get to a segregated school one mile away, when a white school was only seven blocks away from her home.
