Why might U. S. involvement in the Korean War be part of the policy of containment?

The U. S. adopted a foreign policy strategy in 1947 called the Policy of Containment. The idea was that communist government would not be sustainable and eventually fall if not allowed to expand their ideas. The thought was to contain communism and hinder Soviet reach during the Cold War. The Korean War is an example of this policy in action. The U. S. feared Korea would fall into communist control and it's involvement was to stop the spread of communism and maintain democracy.
