    Texas was important to the Confederacy for several reasons. It supplied soldiers and horses for the Confederate Army. The Texas Brigade was one of the most notable units in the Confederate Army. Texas was a conduit through which supplies from Europe were smuggled into the Confederacy from Mexico.
