Ancient Egyptians saw Egypt as being divided into two different types of land. The black land was the land on the banks of the Nile, which was fertile and thus used for growing plants and crops. In the desert of North Africa, this was the only fertile land. Therefore, it had a big impact on ancient Egyptian civilisation, because it allowed them to sustain themselves.
