In what ways were the late 19th century Populists the heirs of Jacksonian Democrats with respect to overall objectives and specific proposals for reform.

    In many ways, the late 19th century Populists were indeed the heirs of Jacksonian Democrats in the sense that championed small business over the interests of the banks. They failed however, to create long-lasting social legislation like Jackson had envisioned.
