Why did the British put all those tax laws on the colonist

    Wanted more money to fund the various wars they had like with france and spain.

    Simply put, because they could! They had complete port control of the colonists, so they controlled what resources they could import, such as British tea. Tea was a very enjoyed beverage among the colonists so they would pay the hefty taxes.
