This statement is inaccurate. When George Washington and his men were stationed at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778 they faced harsh and brutal cold conditions. The troops were underfed and did not have proper clothing to protect them from the elements. Disease was rampant and many soldiers died as a result of the harsh conditions that winter.
