Major cities in the western US are more likely to be older than major cities on the Atlantic Coast.

    This is false. Many cities of the Western US didn't even exist when many of the Atlantic Coast cities like Boston and New York were already developed. That's because the westward expansion was slow and thorough, and while new cities were created, the old ones were growing rapidly due to higher and higher European immigration.
