How did the institution of slavery develop and why did it develop differently in the chesapeake, the carolina low country (coast) and the west indie

Slavery developed largely because there were great needs for production which couldn't be paid by the people who owned slaves. They needed to have workers which would work for them at the same time they couldn't afford to pay this mass of people.

It developed differetly in the parts that are mentioned here because they had different needs at the time.
