Why were the platonic socrates and aristotle suspicious of orators in their day?

The Platonic Socrates and Aristotle were suspicious of orators in their day because they believed that orators did not do what was good for them and for the people. Together with the tyrants, the orators were among the least powerful in their democratic world.
