    Americans had innumerably more infantry troops than the Vietnamese had. Whenever they would have a problem, they would call for even more and so on and so forth. On the other hand, the Vietnamese army was fewer in numbers but they made it up buy knowing the terrain and setting up traps. Up until then, US troops hadn't encountered such warfare with spike traps and tunnels and mines everywhere. In order to fight against this, the US troops would napalm entire forests in order to smoke out the enemies. American belief was that the Vietnamese need to be "Bombed back to the stone age"
