    The Allies included Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States. These countries fought against the Central Powers which included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. Archduke Ferdinand, of Austria-Hungary, was assassinated by a Serb on June 28, 1914. (WW1) The Allies. The big four Allied powers of World War II were England (Great Britain, the United Kingdom), the United States of America, the Soviet Union (U. S. S. R., Russia), and France. Other allied nations: Australia. (WW2) The Allied countries won both World War I and World War II.
