The oldest or the earliest civilization in India started in the banks of the river Indus and is known as the Indus Valley Civilization. Many people as well as historians state this as the Harappan civilization. It is considered as the oldest civilization as it marked the place where people settled down and created the first civilization. There is also another city that is also considered as the place for the oldest civilization in India and that is Mohenjo-Daro. This civilization used a written language but it could not be properly deciphered.
