    We know that 1 feet is 0.3m and that 1 inch = 0.0254 m

To get the result we have to multiply 5 feet by 0.3 and 2 inches by 0.0254 and add it.

    5*0.3=1.5

    2*0.0254=0.0508

    Now adding

    1.5+0.058=1.55m - its the answer
