A machine makes bolts that are 12 mm long. The bolts are considered acceptable if they are within 0.2 mm of 12 mm.

    Answer: The range of acceptable bolts is from 11.8 mm to 12.2 mm.

    If the bolts have to be within 0.2 mm of 12 mm, we simply need to add on and subtract 0.2 from 12 to find the acceptable range.

    12 - 0.2 = 11.8 is the lowest value.

    12 + 0.2 = 12.2 is the highest value.
